As you may know, Solus OS is an open-source Linux system built from scratch by Ikey Doherty.
The awesome thing about it is that it uses a very beautiful desktop environment called Budgie, which is a little prettier than Elementary’s Pantheon.
Recently, David Mohammed, a third party developer has decided to create an Ubuntu flavor using Budgie desktop as default, called Budgie-Remix.
David Mohammed has reached out Martin Wimpress, the project leader of Ubuntu MATE, which urged him to get the new Ubuntu flavor to target the Ubuntu 16.10 release. According to David, Canonical’s Mark Shuttleworth likes the idea of having a budgie flavor for Ubuntu.
So, if we are lucky enough, and David manages to do his magic well, an Ubuntu Budgie official flavor might be released along with Ubuntu 16.10 and other flavors.
