Ubuntu Mate Will Become An Official *Buntu Flavor In A Few Days

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Martin Wimpress and Alan Pope have started working at a Mate flavor last year, the first Ubuntu Mate version being Ubuntu Mate 14.10. Also, Ubuntu Mate 14.04.1 has been released along with the other Ubuntu 14.04.1 flavors, due to the fact that Ubuntu 14.04 is a LTS version and will be supported until 2019.

Ubuntu Mate Will Become An Official *Buntu Flavor In A Few Days

For now, Ubuntu Mate is still an unofficial flavor, but all the necessary paperwork for becoming an official flavor has been done, so it’s just a matter of days until it will become official. Most likely, Ubuntu MATE 15.04 Beta 1, scheduled for the 26th of February, will be an official release.

Ubuntu Mate includes also a bunch of optimizations for Ubuntu that are not available if you only install the Mate Desktop on your Ubuntu system. Also, Ubuntu Mate 15.04 Daily Builds can be downloaded from here.
