The Fail0verflow hacker team has managed to hack a Play Station 4 gaming console and install Gentoo Linux on it, at the 32nd Chaos Communication Congress (32c3).

The hackers have exploited an vulnerability in Sony’s PS4 and launched Gentoo Linux via Settings -> User’s Guide. The Gentoo Linux running on the console uses Kernel 4.4, OpenRC and systemd 228 init systems and XFCE as default desktop environment.
The hacker’s next target is to make 3D acceleration, USB and HDMI audio work as well.
