The latest installation instructions for Amarok

Amarok 2.7.1 has been just released and available for Linux and Unix Operating Systems. Amarok 2.7.1 is called “Harbinger”.

From the official announcement:

“The Amarok Team has discovered a very unpleasant bug in QtWebkit ↔ GStreamer interaction that made continuous playing almost impossible, due to frequent crashing.

“We decided to work around it in our code and take it as an opportunity to release a bugfix version. It contains a couple of other fixes we deemed important.”

It comes with a few bug fixes and some new features.

To upgrade to Amarok 2.7.1, on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Rintail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, do this:

Add the repo:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

Update the system:

$ sudo apt-get update

Upgrade Amarok:

$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
