Backup Your Ubuntu Or Derivative System Via Timeshift 1.6.2 (For Ext) Or Timeshift BTRFS (For BTRFS)

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, TimeShift is a tool that allows the users to do system restores to a certain time. It is an open-source restore tool, similar to Microsoft’s System Restore and Apple’s Time Machine, based on rsync and hardlinks, that creates incremental snapshots for the file system. It can be used as LiveCD or as an application, for the Ubuntu and derivative systems.

The latest version available is Timeshift 1.6.2, which has been released a while ago, coming with a brand new clone button for cloning the entire system, improved first snapshot size estimation, cleaned terminal output and support for saving backups on LUKS-encrypted partitions.

While the regular Timeshift works only with the EXT file systems, the developer has forked it to work with BTRFS, under the name of Timeshift BTRFS.

Timeshift BTRFS 1.0 allows the users to create snapshots of the BTRFS file system super fast and restore them even faster.
