Firefox Has Added Shumway, The HTML5 Replacement For Shockware Flash, In The Latest Nightly Versions Of Firefox

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Shumway is a HTML5 plugin, created by the Mozilla developers designed for rendering the Shockware Flash format. Basicly, it is a HTML5 replacement for Adobe’s Flash.

Despite the fact that its experimental, Shumway has been integrated to the latest Nightly version of Mozilla Firefox. When it gets stable enough, it will be added by default in the Firefox browsers, to manage SWFs.

Shumway is multi-platform, working on Firefox installed on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X.

For installing Shumway on 64 bit Linux systems, you need to install some dependencies first:

$ sudo apt-get install libc6-dev-i386 g++-multilib
