Gnome Shell 3.8.3 Has Been Finally Released | How To Install Gnome Shell 3.8.3 On Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail

Hello Linux Geeksters. Gnome Shell 3.8.3 has been finally released.

Gnome Shell 3.8.3 comes with a few bugfixes. Among other fixes, they have resolved the issue with the VPN network icon in the notification area, the duplicate cursor problem during screenshots, some problems with the OSD notifications, the switcher caused by the Nvidia drivers to display only active windows from the current worspace and many others.

Gnome Shell 3.8.3 will be available soon in the Gnome 3 PPA, for Ubuntu Raring , so to install Gnome Shell 3.8.3 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, just do:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

If you have a previous version of Gnome Shell already installed, you can upgrade it, but this trick will also upgrade your system.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
