Hello Linux Geeksters. Ubuntu After Install is an app created by the Faenza developers in order to help the users easily install codecs, plugins and other apps with a few clicks only, from a simple GUI.
It provides a list of available software and all the user has to do is tick the packages he wants to install and press Install Now. Among others, it installs the Ubuntu Restricrterd Extras, Unity Tweak Tool, Faenza Icon theme, Google Chrome, Skype, LibreOffice, Dropbox, VLC, Gimp, Darktable, FileZilla, Kdenlive, Handbrake, Steam and Shutter.
The latest version available is Ubuntu After Install 2.0 Beta.
In this article I will show you how to install Ubuntu After Install 2.0 Beta on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
There is no repository available containing the Ubuntu After Install 2.0 Beta app, but we can easily download the deb package from the official site and install it with dpkg. Like this:
$ wget -c http://www.thefanclub.co.za/sites/all/modules/pubdlcnt/pubdlcnt.php?file=http://www.thefanclub.co.za/sites/default/files/public/downloads/ubuntu-after-install_2.3_all.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i ubuntu-after-install_2.3_all.deb
