With this oneliner you can easily upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 “Precise Pangolin” to Ubuntu 12.10 “Quantal Quetzal”:
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -d
If you have GUI, you can also upgrade with the update manager. Press Alt + F2 and type: update-manager -d
