How To Install And Test Shorts (RSS Reader For Ubuntu Touch) On Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail and Linux Mint 15 Olivia

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Shorts (Feed Reader App) is the default RSS Reader application for Ubuntu Phone, being part of the Ubuntu Touch Core Apps. The app has been recently updated, bringing some design improvements and optimizations

In this article I will show you how to install and test Shorts RSS (Feed Reader App) on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Linux Mint 16 Petra and Linux Mint 15 Olivia.

Follow these intructions exactly, for a successful installation:

Add the needed repositories:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:canonical-qt5-edgers/qt5-proper
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/daily

Update the local repository index:

$ sudo apt-get update

Install Shorts and the Ubuntu Virtual Machine:

$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-sdk ubuntu-rssreader-app
