How To Install And Test The Ubuntu Touch Music App 2.0 On Ubuntu 14.10 And Ubuntu 15.04

While Music App 2.0 is still under development, it already includes all the basic features like: list of albums and artists, playlist management or search bar.

So, to install Music App 2.0 on either Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn or Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, you have to add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the music-app package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vthompson/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install music-app

Optional, to remove music-app, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove music-app
