As the name suggests, the Weather App is a weather application, part of the Ubuntu Touch Core Apps, a project created by third party developers under the supervision of the Ubuntu developers.It has been recently updated, getting support for notifications and warning the user when the phone has no internet connection: “Something went wrong!”
For now, the app allows the user to choose a location to view the weather from, view the current weather conditions, read a 10 day forecast, set the temperature to be displayed in both Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees.
To install and test Weather App 0.2 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, do this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-sdk ubuntu-weather-app
This installation guide should also work for Linux Mint 16 Petra and Linux Mint 15 Olivia, since they are 100 % Ubuntu compatible.
