Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know Audacity is an open-source, multi-platform audio editor and recorder, running on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. The latest version available is Audacity 2.0.5, which has been released a while ago, fixing all the reported bugs from the previous version.

In this article I will show you how to install Audacity 2.0.5 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Audacity 2.0.5 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the audacity package. Like this:

    What is a PPA? Where do I get it? How do I add it to my system? Where do I get the Audacity package from, and what will it be called?

      just open a terminal and paste the commands in the article. also, you will be asked to insert the user’s password, to get root privileges.

    This is a 32-bit Intel system, which is why I am going way back to Ubuntu 12.10
