Hello Linux Geeksters. Banshee is an audio and video player, that uses the GStreamer platform for encoding / decoding some media formats, including: Ogg Vorbis, MP3 or FLAC. In this article I will show you how to install Banshee 2.6.1 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
Because Banshee 2.6.1 is available in the default repositories for Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Linux Mint 16 Petra and Linux Mint 15 Olivia, to install it just do:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install banshee
To install Banshee 2.6.1 in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya, add the Banshee PPA:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install banshee
