Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Banshee is an open source music player, developed by Novell. For encoding and decoding, it uses the GStreamer library. The latest version available is Banshee 2.9.1, which has been released a few days ago, coming with support for the latest version of GStreamer and a bunch of bug-fixes . For information about this release, see the release notes.
In this article I will show you how to install Banshee 2.9.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr and Linux Mint 17 Qiana.
Because it will be soon available via PPA, installing Banshee 2.9.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the banshee package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install banshee
