How To Install Budgie Desktop v1.19 On OpenSUSE 13.1 And Fedora 20

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Budgie Desktop is an open-source desktop environment used by default on Evolve OS, which is an OpenSUSE derivative system. Being lightweight, Budgie desktop is a good alternative for old computers and computers using the ARM architecture. Also, it has support for Wayland, Red Hat’s system compositor. The latest version available is Budgie Desktop v.1.19, which has been recently released.

In this article I will show you how to install Budgie Desktop on Fedora 20 and OpenSUSE 13.1.

Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Budgie Desktop on Fedora 20:

$ sudo su
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
# wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ikeydoherty:evolve/Fedora_20/home:ikeydoherty:evolve.repo
# yum update
# yum install budgie-desktop

How to install Budgie Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1:

$ sudo su
# zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ikeydoherty:evolve/openSUSE_13.1/home:ikeydoherty:evolve.repo
# zypper refresh
# zypper install budgie-desktop
