How to Install Caffeine on Fedora 18

In this article I will show you how to install Caffeine on Fedora 18.

Caffeine is an interesting app that prevents your computer from going to stand by/hibernation when some programs are running (for example VLC).

Because Caffeine is not in the default Fedora 18 repositories, we have to add the RPM Sphere repo by hand.

Create the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpm-sphere.repo file. (you need to be root or have sudo priviledges for this):

$ touch /etc/yum.repos.d/rpm-sphere.repo file

Paste the following code lines in the newly created /etc/yum.repos.d/rpm-sphere.repo file.

[rpm-sphere]
name=RPM Sphere
baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/zhonghuaren/Fedora_18/
gpgkey=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/zhonghuaren/Fedora_18/repodata/repomd.xml.key
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1

Next, update the system, install caffeine and everything is done:

$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum install caffeine
