Hello Linux Geeksters. In this article I will show you how to install Cheese 3.8.2 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail and Linux Mint 15 Olivia.
Cheese 3.8.2 is the latest stable version available of the default webcam viewer application from GNOME.
In the Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail / Linux Mint 15 Olivia default repositories, the latest Cheese version is 3.6.2.
This is how you install Cheese 3.8.2 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint:
For 32 bit systems:
$ wget -c archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/cheese/cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f
$ rm cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
For 64 bit systems:
$ wget -c archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/cheese/cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f
$ rm cheese_3.8.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
