Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Cinelerra is a professional non-linear video editor for Linux. It contains a video compositing engine and has support for high-fidelity audio and video using 64 bits of precision, working in both RGBA and YUVA color spaces.
Among others, it has support for OpenGL on a bunch of Nvidia GPUs, supports the most common WMV and FLV derivatives and can store and retrieve images in the best possible fidelity with floating point imaging and file formats.
The latest version available is Cinelerra 4.6, which has been recently released, being available for 64 bit systems only.
In this article I will show you how to install Cinelerra 4.6 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Pinguy OS 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0, LXLE 14.04 and other Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems.
Because it is not via any repository, we have to download the Cinelerra 4.6 archive, extract it, cd to the extracted folder and run the Cinelerra file.
