How To Install ComplexShutdown 0.5 On Ubuntu 14.04, Linux Mint 17, Elementary OS 0.3, Deepin 2014 And Other Ubuntu 14.04 Derivatives

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, ComplexShutdown is an open-source software rewritten in Python, allowing the users to schedule shutdown at a specific time. Also, it has support for performing scheduled log-off, restart, hibernate and sleep. Unfortunately, the software does not have support for scheduling more than one task at a time.

The latest version available ComplexShutdown 0.5, which has been released a while ago.

In this article I will show you how to install ComplexShutdown 0.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Pinguy OS 14.04, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPA, installing ComplexShutdown 0.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative is easy. All you have to do is download the deb package, and install it via command-line. I prefer gdebi over dpkg, due to the fact that it also handles dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget https://launchpad.net/complexshutdown/trunk/0.5/+download/complexshutdown_0.5_all.deb
$ sudo gdebi complexshutdown.deb && rm complexshutdown.deb

Optional, to remove complexshutdown, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove complexshutdown
