Hello Linux Geeksters. Darktable Description, from the official site: Darktable is an open source photography workflow application and RAW developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them. It is released under the GNU General Public Licence and works for Linux, OS X and Solaris.

The latest version available is Darktable 1.6.1, which has been released a while ago, coming which fixes a couple of minor issues in the recent feature release Darktable 1.6.0.
In this article I will show you how to install Darktable 1.6.1 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Darktable 1.6.1 on Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the darktable package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install darktable
Optional, to remove Darktable, do:
$ sudo apt-get install darktable
