Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, DockBarX is a lightweight taskbar for Linux, having support for the GNOME2 taskbar applet, Mate taskbar applet, Avant Window Navigator applet, available for the most popular desktop environments, including: GNOME 3 and Gnome Shell, KDE, XFCE, MATE and others.
The latest version available is DockBarX 0.91.4, which has been recently released, coming only with bug-fixes, for known issue.
In this article I will show you how to install DockbarX 0.91.4 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing DockBarX 0.91.4 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, Elementary OS, Peppermint Five, LXLE systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the dockbarx package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dockbar-main/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install dockbarx
To install additional packages, do:
$ sudo apt-get install dockbarx-themes-extra
Optional, to remove dockbarx and dockbarx-themes-extra packages, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove dockbarx dockbarx-themes-extra
