Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Focuswriter is a text editor, having a hide-away interface to provide a distraction-free environment. It is open-source and cross-plaftorm, working on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X.
Among others, it has support for TXT, RTF and ODT, allows the users to set timers and alarms, it has auto-save and spell-check, it supports some new themes and is traslated in more than 20 languages.
The latest version available is Focuswriter 1.5, which has been recently released, coming with a bunch of fixes and enhancements.
In this article I will show you how to install Focuswriter 1.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.3, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, LXLE 14.04, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04 and other Ubuntu derivatives.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Focuswriter 1.5 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Pinguy OS, LXLE systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa, update the local repository index and install the focuswritter package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install focuswriter
Optional, to remove focuswriter, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove focuswriter
