Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, FreeFileSync is an open-source software, for syncronizing files and folders. It has a simple UI and it should offer good performance. The latest version available is FreeFileSync 5.18.
In this article I will show you how to install FreeFileSync 5.18 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Linux Mint 15 Olivia and Linux Mint 14 Nadia.
Because it is available via PPA, installing it on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy. Follow the instructions below, in order to get a successful installation:
Add the repository:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freefilesync/ffs
Update the local repository index:
$ sudo apt-get update
Install FreeFileSync:
$ sudo apt-get install freefilesync
Thanks for sharing these instructions. I’m trying to install FreeFileSync on Ubuntu 13.10 (64 bit). I’m running into the following error message during the third (installation) step:
Unable to locate package freefilesync
Am I in the wrong folder? But if so, where is the package stored? Or is this a problem with 13.10?
the repository does not yet contain a freefilesync package for Ubuntu Saucy
Thanks!
Followed the instructions and had no problem in Ubuntu 13.10.
