Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, FreetuxTV is a TV player application that allows the users to watch television and listen to radio stations over the internet. It comes with a multi-language interface and has many interesting features, including: recording TV shows or radio songs. The latest version available is FreetuxTV 0.6.5.
In this article I will show you how to install both FreetuxTV 0.6.5 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
On Ubuntu 13.10 / 13.04 / 12.10 and Linux Mint 16 / 15 / 14, FreetuxTV 0.6.5 is available in the default repositories, all you have to do is:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install freetuxtv
To install FreetuxTV 0.6.5 on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin and Linux Mint 13 Maya, you have to add the official FreetuxTV repository first. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freetuxtv/freetuxtv-dev
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install freetuxtv
