Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, FreetuxTV is a TV player application that allows the users to watch television and listen to radio stations over the internet. It comes with a multi-language interface and has many interesting features, including: recording TV shows or radio songs. The latest version available is FreetuxTV 0.6.5.

In this article I will show you how to install both FreetuxTV 0.6.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
Because it is available via the default repositories of Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 13.10 and Linux Mint 16, installing FreetuxTV 0.6.5 on this systems is easy. Just do:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install freetuxtv
For Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 14, Linux Mint 13 and Elementary OS 0.2, FreetuxTV 0.6.5 is available via PPA. So, all you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the freetuxtv package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:freetuxtv/freetuxtv-dev
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install freetuxtv
