Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, GIMP 2.8.10 has been released a while ago. Among others, the GUI comes displays if a file has been exported, in the Quit dialog, the close and quit dialogs got some shortcuts and hint labels, for an easier quit/close, the progress popups are hidden when opening more then one file and the hidden state of docks is restored in single window mode.

In this article I will show you how to install Gimp 2.8.10 On Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Isis, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Gimp 2.8.10 for the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the gimp package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gimp
Optional, to remove gimp, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove gimp
