In this article I will show you how to install Gnome MPlayer on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.

As you know, Gnome Mplayer is a front-end over the kickass command-line based Mplayer. To install Mplayer on Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10 and Ubuntu 12.04, see this article.

Because there is not local repository available for Gnome Mplayer 1.0.9a., the latest Gnome Mplayer available, we will use Brandon Snider’s PPA to install it:

Add the repository:

$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:brandonsnider/gnome-mplayer-dev

Update the local repositories:

$ sudo apt-get update

Install Gnome Mplayer:

$ sudo apt-get install gnome-mplayer
