How To Install Google Drive Ocalmfuse 0.5.3 On Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 And Derivative Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, there isn’t any official Google Drive client for Linux yet, but there are alternatives. One useful tool for mounting Google Drive on Linux is Google Drive Ocamlfuse 0.5.3. More information an usage instructions are available on the project’s page.

In this article I will show you how to install Google Drive Ocamlfuse 0.5.3 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin and derivative systems, including: Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.3 Isus, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04.

How to install Google Drive Ocalmfuse 0.5.3:

Because it is available via PPA, installing Google Drive Ocamlfuse 0.5.3 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS and Pinguy OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the google-drive-ocamlfuse package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alessandro-strada/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install google-drive-ocamlfuse

Next, we have to autorize it with Google. Paste the below command in the terminal:

$ google-drive-ocamlfuse

Your internet browser will open and you will be asked to allow Google Drive Ocamlfuse to access your Google Drive and wait a to retrieve the authorization code.

How to mount/synt folders on Google Drive , via Google Drive Ocalmfuse:

Next, i will create the ~/path/to/directory folder:

$ mkdir -p ~/path/to/directory

Mount/Sync on Google Drive

$ google-drive-ocamlfuse ~/path/to/directory
