Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, KDE 4.12 has been recently released, being the first KDE version that comes with KDE Frameworks 5 and Plasma 2.
Among others, KDE 4.12 brings bug-fixes, some Python extensions for Kate, a new version of Okular, KGpg improvements, kwalletmanager with support for GPG format, Konsole comes with support for opening URLs listed as output of the console via ctrl-click, improved KWebKit and Dolphin optimizations that makes it more responsive.
In this article I will show you how to install KDE 4.12 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
Because it is available via PPA, installing KDE 4.12 on Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the kubuntu-desktop package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
