Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, KingSoftOffice (also know as WPS Office) is the closest free software to the Microsoft Office package.
The latest version available is WPS KingSoftOffice Alpha 11 Patch2, which can be easily downloaded from the official site. For a list of new features and fixes, brought since the previous Alpha version, see the official site.
In this article I will show you how to install KingSoft Office (WPS Office) Alpha11 Patch2 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Debian Sid, Debian Jessie, Debian Wheezy, Debian Squeeze, Knoppix, Crunchbang OS, Deepin, Elementary OS and other Debian & Ubuntu based distros.
How to install KingSoft Office (WPS Office) Alpha11 Patch2 on 32 bit Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint and derivates:
Download the needed package:
$ wget -c wdl.cache.ijinshan.com/wps/download/Linux/unstable/kingsoft-office_9.1.0.4111~a11p2_i386.deb
Install the package and fix the dependency issues, if needed:
$ sudo dpkg -i kingsoft-office_9.1.0.4111~a11p2_i386.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f
How to install KingSoft Office (WPS Office) Alpha11 Patch2 on 64 bit Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint and derivates:
There deb package is only for 32 bit systems, but it can also be installed on 64 bit systems, if you install the ia32-libs package first:
$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
Download the needed package:
$ wget -c wdl.cache.ijinshan.com/wps/download/Linux/unstable/kingsoft-office_9.1.0.4111~a11p2_i386.deb
Install the package and fix the dependency issues, if needed:
$ sudo dpkg -i kingsoft-office_9.1.0.4111~a11p2_i386.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f
