Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Komodo Edit is an IDE for coding in various web languages: Python, PHP, Ruby, Perl, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The latest version available is Komodo Edit 8.5.4, which has been released a few hours ago, bringing only bugfixes to the previous versions. In this article I will show you how to install Komodo Edit 8.5.4 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Linux Lite 2.0, LXLE 14.04 and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Komodo Edit 8.5.4 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Pinguy OS, Deepin, Peppermin, LXLE and Linux Lite systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the komodo-edit package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mystic-mirage/komodo-edit
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install komodo-edit
Optional, to remove komodo-edit, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove komodo-edit
