The latest installation instructions for LibreOffice
Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, LibreOffice 4.2.3 RC1 has been recently released.
In this article I will show you how to install LibreOffice 4.2.3 RC1 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Elementary OS and their derivative systems.
For Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, LibreOffice 4.2.3 RC1 is available via the LibreOffice PreReleases PPA, so installing it is easy. All you have to do is remove the already existing libreoffice versions, add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the libreoffice package. Like this:
$ sudo apt-get purge libreoffice-core
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-prereleases
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install libreoffice
For other versions of Ubuntu, Debian, Elementary OS and their derivatives, we have to download the archive containing the libreoffice packages from the official site, extract the archive and install the deb packages inside.
Follow the instructions for your system and architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.
