How To Install Liferea 1.10.5 On Ubuntu 14.04, 13.10, 13.04, 12.10, 12.04, Linux Mint 16, 15, 14, 13, Pear OS 8, 7 And Elementary OS 0.2

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is a simple and lightweight news aggrecator with a GTK interface. Among other features, it can be syncronized with TinyTinyRSS or TheOldReader and has full support for Google Reader which reached EOL at the beginning of the month, it supports tabs and is capable of downloading feeds for online reading.

The latest version available is Liferea 1.10.5, which has been recently released, coming with a few bug-fixes only.

In this article I will show you how to install Liferea 1.10.5 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Liferea 1.10.5 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the liferea package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/apps
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install liferea
