How To Install Linphone 3.7.0 On Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE And Other Ubuntu Derivatives

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Linphone is an open-source VoIP service that allows the users to perform voice calls, video calls and text conversations with friends and other Linphone users.

The latest version avaialble is Linphone 3.7.0, which has been released a while ago. For information about this release, see the changelog.

how to install Linphone 3.7.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Peppermint Five, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna

In this article I will show you how to install Linphone 3.7.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Peppermint Five, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna and other Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Linphone 3.7.0 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Elementary OS and Peppermint systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the linphone package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linphone/release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install linphone

Optional, to remove linphone, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove linphone
