Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, LiVES is an open source video editor and VJ tool, enabling the users to easily add effects to more than 50 audio and video formats. The latest version avialable is LiVES 2.2.3, which has been recently released.

How To Install LiVES 2.2.3 On Ubuntu, Linux Mint And Elementary OS

In this article I will show you how to install LiVES 2.2.3 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS.

Because it is not available via any repository or as deb packages, we have to compile LiVES 2.2.3 from sources. Follow the instructions exactly, in order to get a successful installation:

Build the needed dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get build-dep lives

Download the LiVES archive, extract it and cd into the extracted folder:

$ wget www.xs4all.nl/%7Esalsaman/lives/current/LiVES-2.2.3.tar.bz2
$ tar -xzvf LiVES-2.2.3.tar.bz2
$ cd lives-2.2.3

Compile and install LiVES 2.2.3:

$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install
