It is ideal for watching and recording television programs and has many plugins that can increase Myth-TV’s power. The latest version available is Myth-TV 0.27, which has been recently released. In this article I will show you how to install MythTV 0.27 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Myth-TV 0.27 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the mythtv package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mythbuntu/0.27
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install mythtv
upon attempting to run the first command the system returned
“sudo: apt-add-repository: command not found”

yes, I have tested it. THE COMMAND IS add-apt-repository NOT apt-add-repository. If you don’t have the add-apt-repository command installed, do this:
$ sudo apt-get install software-properties-common python-software-properties
