Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Nightingale is an open source multimedia player, based on Songbird. The latest version available is Nightingale 1.12, which got support for Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamanader. Among others, it comes with integration improvemenets for both Unity, Gnome Shell and XFCE. In this article I will show you how to install Nightingale 1.12 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Nightingale 1.12 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the needed package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-nightly
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install nightingale
