Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, OGMRip is an open source application for ripping and encoding DVD files to the following formats: AVI, OGM, MP4, Matroska, by using some audio / video convertion tools like: mplayer, mencoder, ogmtools, mkvtoolnix, mp4box, oggenc, lame, and faac. It has an Gnome 2 GUI, but there is also a cli tool called shRip. The latest version available is OGMRip 1.0.0. For more information, see the project’s official page.

In this article I will show you how to install OGMRip 1.0.0 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.

Because it is available via the GetDeb repository, installing OGMRip 1.0.0 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy. Just do:

$ wget http://archive.getdeb.net/install_deb/getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i getdeb-repository_0.1-1~getdeb1_all.deb
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install ogmrip
