In this article I will show you how to install the Pantheon Desktop Enviroment on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.
Pantheon is a new lightweight, modular desktop environment, written in vala and GTK+, aiming the elementary OS project.
So, let’s start. First, we have to add all the needed PPAs:
$ sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:elementary-os/daily
$ sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:marlin-devs/marlin-daily
$ sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:ricotz/docky
Secondly, we update the system:
$ sudo apt-get update
And third, we install all the needed packages:
$ sudo apt-get install -y pantheon-shell pantheon midori lingo wingpanel plank pantheon-terminal pantheon-xsession-settings contractor slingshot-launcher scratch marlin elementary-theme elementary-icon-theme ttf-droid footnote switchboard plank-theme-pantheon snap switchboard-gnome-control-center preload
