How To Install Pastie 0.6.7.5 On Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 And Ubuntu 12.04, Using Unity Or GNOME

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Pastie is a clipboard manager, similar to Diodon, which uses Ubuntu AppIndicator. It saves the recently copied data and allows the users to easily access it via the Ubuntu panel. Also worth mentioning, it has a bunch of configurable preferences, like: history size, set keyboard shortcuts and interface settings.

The latest version available is Pastie 0.6.7.5, which has been released last year. Despite the fact that the project has been dropped, it can still be used.

In this article I will show you how to install Pastie 0.6.7.5 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin using either Unity or GNOME as the default desktop environment.

Because it is not available via any PPA or repository, we have to download the pastie package fromĀ  launchpad and install it via command-line. Like this:

$ wget "https://launchpad.net/~hel-sheep/+archive/ubuntu/pastie/+files/pastie_0.6.7.5%7Eppam1_all.deb"
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ sudo gdebi pastie_0.6.7.5%7Eppam1_all.deb
