How To Install Power Installer On Elementary OS 0.3, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 And Derivative Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Power Installer is an open-source tool, written in Vala and GTK+, that helps the users easily install proprietary drivers, packages, new themes and others, by dragging them into the application’s window. Also, it can repair certain errors, remove packages that are now longer required and install proprietary AMD and NVIDIA GPU drivers.

The latest version available is Power Installer 1.0, which has been released a while ago.

In this article I will show you how to install Power Installer 1.0 on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2 and other Ubuntu derivative systems.

Power Installer 1.0 is available via a dedicated PPA for Elementary OS 0.3 Freya and a separate PPA for Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems.

Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Power Installer 1.0 on Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative systems:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:donadigo/donadigo
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install power-installer

How to install Power Installer 1.0 on Elementary OS 0.3 and derivative systems:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:donadigo/power-installer
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install power-installer

Optional, to remove power installer from either Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 or a derivative, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove power-installer
