Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Rassam Paint is an open source clone of the popular Microsoft Paint, with an interface based on GTK+2, being available on Linux systems. It has all the features present in paint and supports the most popular image formats.

The latest version available is Rassam Paint 1.0, which has been released a while ago.

In this article I will show you how to install Rassam Paint 1.0 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Elementary OS, Debian, Crunchbang, Kwheezy and other Ubuntu and Debian derivative systems.

Because it is not available via any repository or PPA, we have to download the Rassam Paint 1.0 deb package from the project’s site and install the via the command-line. I prefer gdebi over dpkg due to the fact that it also handles the dependencies.

Follow the instructions for your system’s architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Rassam Paint 1.0 on 32 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Elementary OS, Debian, Crunchbang and Kwheezy systems:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget github.com/benohb/rassam-paint/releases/download/1.0/rassam-paint_1.0_i386.deb
$ sudo gdebi rassam-paint_1.0_i386.deb

How to install Rassam Paint 1.0 on 64 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Elementary OS, Debian, Crunchbang and Kwheezy systems:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget github.com/benohb/rassam-paint/releases/download/1.0/rassam-paint_1.0_amd64.deb
$ sudo gdebi rassam-paint_1.0_amd64.deb
