It also works well with the Xen, KVM or VMware ESX virtualization software. The latest version available is RemoteBox 1.6, which brings support for Virtualbox 4.3.

In this article I will show you how to install RemoteBox 1.6 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

There is no repository available for RemoteBox 1.6, so we have to install the needed dependencies, download and extract the remotebox archive and run the app:

$ sudo apt-get install libgtk2-perl libsoap-lite-perl rdesktop
$ wget -c knobgoblin.org.uk/downloads/RemoteBox-1.6.tar.gz
$ tar -xjvf RemoteBox-1.6.tar.gz
$ cd RemoteBox-1.6
$ sudo chmod +x remotebox
$ ./remotebox
