Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Shotwell is the default photo manager/organizer on Ubuntu and Fedora. The latest version available is Shotwell 0.15.1. Among others, it comes with copy and paste color adjustments between photos, highlights detail adjustment, videos in Missing Files now re-import properly and improvements when thumbnailing videos.

In this article I will show you how to install Shotwell 0.15.1 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Pear OS 8.

On Ubuntu 13.10 and Linux Mint 16, Shotwell 0.15.1 is available via the default repositories, so installing it is easy. Just do:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install shotwell

Because it is available via PPA, installing Shotwell 0.15.1 on Ubuntu 13.04/12.10, Linux Mint 15/14 and Pear OS 8 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa, update the local repository index and install the shotwell package:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install shotwell
