Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Shutter is a screenshot tool, similar to the Snipping Tool available on Windows systems.
The latest version available is Shutter 0.93, which has been recently released, coming with a few changes only: including dropbox integration and support for vgy.me has been added. For more information about this release, see the official changelog.
In this article I will show you how to install Shutter 0.93 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, LXLE 14.04, Deepin 2014, Linux Lite 2.0, Peppermint Five and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Shutter 0.93 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE, Elementary OS, Pinguy OS, Deepin and Linux Lite systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the shutter package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shutter/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install shutter
Optional, to remove shutter, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove shutter
