The latest installation instructions for Skype
Hello Linux Geeksters. In this article I will show you how to install Skype 4.2 on Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, via PPA.
Because Elementary OS is 100 % compatible with Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, we can easily install Skype 4.2 from the Canonical Partner repository. Follow this instructions exactly, in order to get a successful installation:
Add the repository:
$ sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ precise partner"
Update the local repository index:
$ sudo apt-get update
Install Skype:
$ sudo apt-get install skype
You still using Elementary ? to install PPAs for this it still just uses Precise correct?
yes
It said, “sky-bin” or something was broken, so the package/skype can not be installed.
The same to me. Maybe do we have to try later?
Thank you I solved the problem…for now (hoping forever) next time I will think twice before jumping to a new version.
Thanks
nice……
