In this article I will show you how to install Skype on OpenSUSE 12.3. As you know, Skype is the most popular program used for video calling, and much more better that Yahoo Messenger.

This installation works on both 32 bit and 64 bit systems. For using Skype on 64 bit systems, you still need to install compatible packages for 32 bit systems.
Before you start installing Skype, you have to install the dependencies:
$ sudo zypper in xorg-x11-libXv-32bit libqt4-32bit libqt4-x11-32bit libpng12-0-32bit
Paste this url in your browser: http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-linux/downloading/?type=suse32
The Skype team provides a package only for OpenSUSE 12.3, but this works on OpenSUSE 12.3 also:
Install Pulse Audio 3.0:
PulseAudio 3.0 is also needed for Skype to work, so I have installed it with zypper.
$ sudo zypper in alsa-plugins-pulse-32bit
Install Skype:
$ sudo zypper in skype-4.1.0.20-suse.i586.rpm
This is it. Enjoy.
