Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Stellarium is a free open-source planetarium app that gives massive amount of functionlities to every planetarium maniac. The latest version available is Stellarium 0.12.4, which has been recently released, in order to fix a crash occured when the users enabled binoculars in the Oculars Plugin.

In this article I will show you how to install Stellarium 0.12.4 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna and Pear OS 8.

Because it is available via some third party PPA, installing Stellarium 0.12.4 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS and Pear OS is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa, update the local repository index and install the stellarium package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stellarium/stellarium-releases
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install stellarium
