Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Sylpheed is an open-source lightweight and keyboard-orientation e-mail client written in GTK+2. Having an intuitive interface, it has all the features of a modern email client.
The latest version available is Sylpheed 3.5.0 Beta 1, which has been recently released.
In this article I will show you how to install Sylpheed 3.5.0 Beta 1 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Peppermint Five and other Ubuntu derivatives.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Sylpheed 3.5.0 Beta 1 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, Elementary OS, LXLE and Peppermint systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the sylpheed package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:klaus-vormweg/sylpheed
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install sylpheed
Optinal, to remove sylpheed, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove sylpheed
